MARJONLANDIA: The Return to the Corn Fields

Special Series, Episode 1

Fight for the sake of Corn Fields!

Hahahay ang saya. I'm gonna be there despite all hindrances. Did you know that my brother's birthday, the Grand Alumni Homecoming Day and the only day for my enrollment are all in the same day -- October 27. And all of them are going to happen in three different places. I'm only one human FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

So I had to prioritize and I had to choose the Alumni Homecoming Day because it can't be postponed just for me. Man, that's my highschool turning 10. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I had to go through a series of sacrifices to defer my enrollment but at God's mercy, the request for enrollment rescheduling was approved. I will enroll on November 4th - the official start of classes.

Man alive! I really had to suffer all the consequences existing in the universe.

My brother's birthday is on October 27 so I have to go home after the Alumni Homecoming. They had to postpone it for a few hours until I arrive. What if I don't arrive? HAHA. Yah seriously, I've only attended 4 Pisay birthdays. But with my brother? Come on. I watched him grow. Gimme a break. Haha.

Poll Results for 1Bio-1

So everybody knows I love polls and surveys and being the one who conducts or tabulates them. And everybody knows almost everyone in our class are getting paranoid with their status(if they'd pass or fail a certain subject). So I decided to make a poll for me(or us) to be able to know what subject scares us most?

The first poll was opened days before we took the finals:

POLL QUESTION: Which subject do you think will make you an irregular student? (Pick as many as you want)

RESULTS:
1. BioSci Lab - 25.00%
2. Algebra - 18.75%
Philosophy - 18.75%
3. BioSci Lecture - 14.58%
4. Philippine History - 12.50%
5. Physical Education - 6.25%
6. Filipino - 4.17%
7. English - 0.00%
Theology - 0.00%

-so obviously, one-fourth of the class thinks they will fail Bio Lab, and everyone is oh-so-confident in passing English and Theology.

The second poll was opened days after we took the test, so this poll is pretty much like - 'How much are you sure of what you were talking about?' or 'Has your confidence towards a certain subject changed after taking the final exam?'

POLL QUESTION: Which final exam did you find hard? (Pick as many as you want)

RESULTS
1. BioSci Lecture - 29.41%
2. Algebra - 25.49%
3 BioSci Lab - 13.73%
Philosophy - 13.73%
4. Philippine History - 9.80%
5. Filipino - 5.88%
6. English - 1.96%
7. Theology - 0.00%

I did not include PE because it's not much of a big deal. It won't affect our GWA's anyway.

-I agree. Taking the final exam for Bio Lec was one of the most shocking and hopeless moments of my life. However, still, everybody thinks Theology is still no match for us. Well, what can I say, it produced a lot of 1.00 earners. Algebra is still second most feared. People became more confident in passing Bio Lab and Philosophy.

Well, that's pretty much everything. See you second sem!

UST tops standings for UAAP overall title after 1st semester

MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas topped the University Athletic Association of the Philippines overall standings after the first semester of competitions, according to a report furnished Monday by host school University of the Philippines.

UST, which won five titles in the seniors division, amassed 167 points, followed by Far Eastern University with 128 and De La Salle 119.

Points are calculated based on a school’s standing at the end of each sport. First place is equivalent to 15 points, second place 12, third place 10, fourth place eight, fifth place six, sixth place four, seventh place two and eighth and last only one point.

UST, the defending overall UAAP champion, won the titles in men’s swimming, table tennis and beach volleyball and in men’s and women’s taekwondo.

The Tigers placed in the top three in all sports in both gender divisions played in the first semester except in men’s basketball where they ranked a lowly fifth.

UP culled 118 points to place fourth overall. The bottom four was composed of Ateneo (fifth, 101 points); UE (sixth, 76); Adamson (seventh, 47); and National University (eighth, 25).

Last season, UST, FEU and UP placed in the top three in that order.

In the second semester, the UAAP will play athletics, baseball, fencing, football, softball, tennis, and volleyball. GMANews.TV
